Dr. Akash R. Bellige is a Radiation Oncologist with a keen clinical and research interest in head and neck cancers, neuro-oncology, and advanced radiotherapy techniques. He completed his MBBS from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in 2018, followed by a DNB in Radiation Oncology in 2022.
Dr. Akash has been actively involved in retrospective and prospective research, with ongoing work focusing on optimization of radiotherapy fields in bucco-alveolar complex cancers and the application of AI-driven adaptive radiotherapy using molecular imaging in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. He has also contributed to recent publications in high-impact oncology journals, including the International Journal of Radiation Oncology • Biology • Physics.
He is passionate about integrating personalized medicine with technological advances such as CyberKnife radiosurgery and molecular imaging to improve outcomes in CNS and HNSCC cases.
Outside of clinical practice, Dr. Akash is working towards enhancing patient quality of life by exploring salivary biomarkers to predict oral mucositis and mitigate its impact in patients undergoing radiotherapy.
