Dr. Steike is a research associate and radiation oncology resident in his fourth year of training at the Department of Radiation Oncology, University Hospital Münster (Chair: Hans Theodor Eich, MD, PhD). His research focuses on improving quality of life during and through radiotherapy, with particular emphasis on non-malignant diseases, palliative radiation therapy, and cutaneous T-cell lymphomas, including total skin irradiation as a palliative treatment for symptom relief. In addition, Dr. Steike conducts translational research at the Laboratory for Radiation Biology at University Hospital Münster. His work centers on radiation-induced inflammation, digital holographic microscopy for inflammation detection, and biomarker analysis in cutaneous T-cell lymphomas as well as benign conditions such as heterotopic ossification. Together with Prof. Seegenschmiedt, Dr. Weissmann, and Prof. Eich, he co-founded the International Benign Target Volume Peer Group, an expert consortium dedicated to defining 3D radiotherapy target volumes for benign diseases using a Delphi consensus process.
