Dr. Kang is an assistant professor of in the department of Radiation Oncology at Loyola University. She finished her research fellowship program in medical physics at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in 2010. She worked as a medical physicist at Northwestern Medicine and the University of Chicago prior to joining the medical physics group at Loyola Medicine where she is the Chief of clinical physics. She is an expert in technologies and clinical applications of Dual-energy (DE) CT and CBCT, automation and deep-learning. Her research focus is on knowledge-based treatment planning, automation of the treatment planning/QA, developing DE-CT and DE-CBCT, and synthetizing medical images using AI and deep-learning.


She is the President-elect for the AAPM Midwest Chapter organization. She serves as a committee member for AAPM Global Medical Physics Education and Training, International Council and Working Group on Science Council Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). Also, she is a committee member of a multi-institutional national consortium to develop full automation of periodic QA. Additionally, she is a member for the NRG breast physics group.
