Imtiaz Ahmed, MB, BS, MRCP, FRCR
I am a Consultant in Clinical Oncology at Southend University Hospital, a position I have held since January 2009. I currently serve as the Clinical Lead in Oncology and the Lead Cancer Clinician for the Southend University NHS Trust. I completed my medical degree in Bangladesh before moving to the UK, where I trained in General Medicine in London and obtained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP). I went on to specialise in Clinical Oncology through the London Training Programme and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR).
My clinical subspecialties include urological, head and neck, thyroid, and upper gastrointestinal cancers. I have particular expertise in advanced radiotherapy techniques, including low-dose rate (LDR) and high-dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy for prostate cancer, as well as Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT) and Image Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT) for both urological and head and neck tumours. In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I serve as the Research Lead for head and neck cancer within the Essex Cancer Network, where I am actively involved in clinical research and the development of innovative cancer treatments. I am passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care and advancing oncology services across the region.
