Dr. Jyoti Bala Kaushal is an accomplished cancer biologist serving as a Research instructor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). Her research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms driving tumor progression, particularly in pancreatic cancer (PC), prostate cancer (PCa), and glioblastoma (GBM), with an emphasis on signaling pathways, tumor microenvironment (TME) interactions, and therapeutic resistance.

Dr. Kaushal has a strong background in Hedgehog (Hh) signaling, TGF-ß pathway, ciliary biology, and androgen receptor (AR) signaling in disease biology, including cancer research. Her recent work has provided significant insights into the role of Gli transcription factor localization and its interactions with AR signaling in castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). Additionally, she has explored immune modulation in aggressive cancers and the impact of tumor-stroma interactions on metastasis and therapy resistance. Currently, Dr. Kaushal is leading projects on AR-targeted therapies in glioblastoma (GBM), integrating RNA-seq analysis to decipher the transcriptional landscape of treatment responses. Her expertise in radiation oncology, tumor metabolism, and immune modulation plays a crucial role in advancing targeted therapeutic strategies for both primary and metastatic central nervous system tumors. Her translational research aims to bridge fundamental cancer biology with clinical applications, ultimately improving patient outcomes through precision medicine and radiation therapy approaches.
