Lawrence Marks, MD, FASTRO
I (Lawrence B. Marks, MD) am a Professor and prior-Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at UNC School of Medicine. I also serve as the Executive Medical Director of Care Redesign (UNC Healthcare System’s initiative to reduce unwarranted variation to improve quality) and also as the schools Assistant Dean for Organizational Health and Quality. In all of these roles, I have attempted to apply engineering principles to improve the quality, reliability, and efficiency of our clinical systems. I have held some similar roles in our professional societies (e.g. ASTRO committees and board) to promote these similar principles nationally.
