Nitin Vaishampayan, MD
Nitin Vaishampayan, MD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Oncology, Division of Radiation Oncology at Wayne State University. He received his MD from University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, Michigan and then went on to complete a residency in Radiation Oncology at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. He joined the Division of Radiation Oncology at Wayne State University in 2010. Dr. Vaishampayan is the Director Radiopharmaceutical Service at Karmanos Cancer Institute and has an active role in the development of this service for advanced neuroendocrine tumors (Lutathera) and advanced prostate cancer patients (Pluvicto and Xofigo). He is the Interim Leader of the Genitourinary Multidisciplinary Tumor Board at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit, MI. Dr. Vaishampayan’s significant contributions to science include his research and his work with WSU’s medical Radiation Oncology residents as the Associate Program Director. In addition to clinical teaching of residents, Dr. Vaishampayan also gives guest lectures for the Medical Oncology and Medical Physics Graduate Programs. His current research includes being the principal investigator: Study Protocol Title: An Open-Label, Single Dose, Single Arm, Multicenter Phase 2b Study to Establish the Imaging Performance of RAD1011 Positron Emission Tomography (PET) in Participants with Suspected Recurrent Brain Metastases from Solid Tumors. Dr. Vaishampayan is also interested in research on genitourinary, gastrointestinal and breast cancers.
