Dr. Yu-Hsuan Lai is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Oncology at National Cheng Kung University and an attending radiation oncologist at NCKU Hospital in Tainan, Taiwan. She also serves as a medical AI physician at the Clinical Innovation and Research Center. Dr. Lai received her M.D. from Kaohsiung Medical University and completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Medicine at National Cheng Kung University.


Her clinical and research focus includes radiation therapy for breast and head and neck cancers, artificial intelligence in medical imaging, radiomics, and body composition analysis. She has led multiple cross-disciplinary projects on AI-assisted breast ultrasound and CT-based body composition quantification, and is an inventor of several international patents related to muscle mass estimation and cancer risk prediction.


Dr. Lai has received multiple honors, including the National Innovation Award (2022–2024) and Taiwan’s NSTC Research Grant. She is also the founder of the Cheng Kung University Hospital Archive of Medical Record Data (CARD), which supports big-data-driven clinical research. Her work aims to bridge clinical oncology with AI and population health, advancing precision medicine in real-world settings.
